Jehovah Tsidkenu - The Lord our Righteousness
November 04, 2020

Jeremiah 23:5 Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will raise unto David a righteous Branch, and a King shall reign and prosper, and shall execute judgment and justice in the earth.

  1. In his days Judah shall be saved, and Israel shall dwell safely: and this is his name whereby he shall be called, THE LORD OUR RIGHTEOUSNESS.

2 Corinthians 5: 21. For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.

Lord God ALMIGHTY is our Jehovah Tsidkenu. That is, He is righteousness Himself. The same is mentioned in the Old Testament and New Testament.

God the Father sent his Son, Jesus Christ to sacrifice his life on the Cross so that we can become his righteousness. Isn't that wonderful. Yes it is. Righteousness is attributed to our ethical and moral behaviour. In the book of proverbs, character is synonymous to righteousness.

We need to develop our character based on God's word. The entrance of God's word is light to our understanding. Our reverential fear births divine wisdom into our lives. God's word nourishes us physically and spiritually. It is our daily bread. We need to eat and digest the word of God. This word should flow through our whole body. It should become part and parcel of our lives. All our weaknesses and unholiness ought to be cleansed and purged.

God's righteousness can do it for us. He is Jehovah Tsidkenu, the Righteous One. His word is the eternal lamp that lights up our lives. Our faith is renewed from time to time.

It is not by our works that we become righteous. It is by Faith. Our actions and faith should be allied and integrated. Perfect coordination between the two is necessary. Only then, we can please our heavenly father. We need to be morally strong. For this we need the Holy Spirit guidance and the word of God. Reading and meditating God's word is of utmost importance. We have everything in the word that will lead us  in the paths of righteousness.

Let's focus on God's righteousness and holiness. Call upon the name of God with a contrite and broken spirit. He will answer us.

Praise the Lord. Amen and amen.

Prayer:

Dear Lord Jesus,

Thank you for the sacrifice on the cross and made me righteous through your blood. Thank you for answering our prayers when we call upon you. In the name of Jesus Amen.
