In our journey to know God better and deeper, the study of his names is crucial. Today let's study the name Jehovah Jireh. Our Provider.

In biblical times, a name was very important as it stood for a particular meaning. Normally a name indicates the relationship among people. A name defines our nature too. It helps us grow closer to the person we refer to. In the same way, knowing God's names and their significance takes us closer to God.

Read these verses carefully:

Genesis 22: 13. And Abraham lifted up his eyes, and looked, and behold behind him a ram caught in a thicket by his horns: and Abraham went and took the ram, and offered him up for a burnt offering in the stead of his son. 14. And Abraham called the name of that place Jehovah-jireh: as it is said to this day, In the mount of the LORD it shall be seen.

The above mentioned scriptures narrate how God provided the ram to Abraham for the sacrifice. Here we see the divine provision. But it didn't happen like magic. This divine provision happened because of Abraham's implicit obedience to the Lord's command.

Today, God is not asking for an animal sacrifice but he is asking for us to be a living sacrifice to his kingdom. He wants each one of us to be His Holy temple where He can stay. He reveals Himself to us through the Holy Spirit. His word illuminates our hearts and minds with the revelation of God's love and concern for us. Spiritually and practically, God provides for us.

Our individual obedience to God's laws opens the door for divine provision. This willingness to follow God's word is counted as our righteousness. Then only we will be in God's covenant forever.

Every believer knows how the Israelites were provided with food and water in the wilderness. God took care of them. Not one of them was hungry. They had sufficient to live on. Sometimes we feel that we are being tested, but God will not test us beyond our individual capacity. God's provision is different for different people.

Just as the Internet service providers provide us with the Internet service as per our purchase, God will provide for his children in various ways. This truth has to be ingrained into our hearts and minds. When we face trials, we are being strengthened by his grace and mercy. We are empowered to do his will. We are also taught to depend on God's provision. Jehovah Jireh is there for us. Trust him and obey him. Psalms 121 tells us to look upward at Him from where our help comes. God ALMIGHTY is Jehovah Jireh. If we believe that God is Jehovah Shammah then definitely he is Jehovah Jireh.

The lord is there and He provides for us. Praise the Lord. Amen and amen.
