No God, no peace; know God, know peace.  -- Croft M. Pentz, The Complete Book of Zingers (Wheaton: Tyndale House Publishers, Inc., 1990).

What a difference between "no" and "know ". Yes, our peace is in knowing God. All our earthly possessions are necessary but they do not bring total satisfaction.

This rare commodity "Peace " is being shattered to pieces as we human beings search for it. The reason is that we are searching in the wrong places. Most of the time we feel that money, career, status, etc, will bring us peace. If that is the truth, then why are we scrambling all over to find it. Real peace is something that passes all understanding. It comes from God. The more we trust in Him, the more peaceful we are. God's love and grace strengthens us to face the storms of life. These storms come upon us suddenly. That's why we have to be alert at all times. That means we prepare our hearts and minds with the help of the Holy Spirit. God's word encourages us to be fearless because God is our refuge and strong tower. He is looking out for us day in and day out. Our God does not slumber or sleep. He keeps watch over his children.

Isaiah 9: 6 tells us the birth of a child Jesus Christ who will be called Wonderful, Counsellor, a Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Yes, this Jesus is our Jehovah Shalom.

Psalm 119: 165 also tells us that those who love doing the commandments of God will have peace. They will not stumble. If our mind is stayed on God and His Holy Word, we have real peace. We need to bow our heads and call on the name Jehovah Shalom , My God, My Peace. Unless we learn to shift our anxieties onto God's shoulders , there will be no peace. We cannot control what goes on in the world, but we can control our minds and what goes on inside.

Let's call upon the Holy Spirit, the God of Peace, our Jehovah Shalom. Read his word, obey his commandments and worship Him in reverence and holiness. Let our minds be filled his divine counsel. Every fraction of a second, we have to tenaciously cling to His promises and glory. Only then we will experience the mighty power of Jehovah Shammah and Shalom. Amen.
